Kid's kilt belt
I am looking to complete my son's kilt with some accessories as Christmas gifts. I need a sporran, flashes, belt, and buckle, and pin.
I plan on getting everything from Stillwater, but they do not have a kid's kilt belt and buckle. Does anyone have any suggestions? I am looking for any kind og suggestion on where to buy a real boy's kilt belt and buckle. If such a thing doesn't exist, however, what suggestions do you guys have for substitutes?
Thanks ahead of time. You guys always come through.

Stillwater or sportkilt will give you some reasonably priced kids gear. Unless you son is going to be at any formal events or such, I don't see the point of buying the high end stuff for kids. They either outgrow it too quickly or it gets trashed. It shouldn't be too hard to find a wider kids belt at most department stores that would work well enough.

I suggest instead of buying an "official kid's kilt belt" (that I think you will find likely to be of insufficent quality), that you take a look at USA Kilt's selection of regular belts (which should be proportionately the right size for a thick "kilt belt" on a child) with a sturdy celtic buckle. You will need to shorten the belt itself but you will have a buckle that he can use as he gets bigger.
Just an idea

I'm making my sons matching kilt belts for their first kilts this Christmas. THey will basically be 1/2 size versions of my adult belt seen here
Their belt will be 1-3/4" wide and the buckle is little less beefy looking but standing side by side we'll match close enough.
The above suggestions are the best to keep cost down for an item that will be outgrown soon though.

Personally I don't think a child needs a belt; even if they are dressing formally they can go without it. Given the width a child will find it very uncomfortable if they are sitting at all. My son has a small sporran and flashes. When he needs to be dressed he wears a velvet waistcoat with a white shirt and tie.
If you really want to get him one though, pass on the waistplate kilt belt and go buy a wide man's belt at a discount store. Once it is shortened (shoe repair) it will be about the right proportions for a boy's kilt belt.

There is always the leather workbelt from Home Depot, cut to fit and stained with leather dye. I wear that more than any of my other belts. 2" wide. $10

I think a regular store bought, K-Mart type belt would work for a youngster!

If you have difficulty finding a wide man's belt to cut down to size, you could try the ladies' section at somewhere like Mall-Wart.
