Happy St. Andrew's day, all!
I went to services at St. Andrew's Orthodox Church in Riverside last night (Antiochian, for those of you who want to know). It began at 5 with Vigil. At about 7 we started the liturgy, and wrapped up at 9. There were 7 priests cocelebrating, including two Fr. Andrews. I didn't wear my kilt ( ), and I was covered up in my cassock anyway.
Today, I am, as usual, kilted; I just have a good excuse today.

I look forward to raising a pint with the good folks of the Nor Cal Rabble at the Devil's Canyon Brewery this evening. I'm wearing my Heritage of Scotland tartan kilt (though I might be changing into an X Kilt later this evening )
I'll make sure to bring my Saltire
Cheers
Jamie

I believe he's also the patron of Romania. Since my church is in the ROEA*, which is part of the OCA, and I'm part Russian, as well as part Scots, and part Croat, and Croatia is close to Greece, I'll take all of 'em!

Yes. There is actually a Romanian legend about St. Andrew's Day and vampires. If I remember correctly, St. Andrew's Eve was one of the nights that vampires were active. I've got some information about it in Michael Turnbull's history of St. Andrew at home.
St. Andrew was also the patron saint of Prussia.

Todd

Patron Saint of Scotland, Greece, Russia AND Prussia? What does he do on his day off?
Does he not also have some trade associated with him...like St. Joseph and carpenters or St. Alphonso and smelt fishermen of Portugese extraction?
Best

well, he must have the franchise outside of Portugal, since he is considered the patron saint of fisherman, among other professions. including Army Rangers!!
Btw, the Seal of the city of New York has the sails of a windmill in a saltire cross. This was taken from that for use by the Archdiocese of New York for its own seal. Ah, that Dutch love for the sea!

Really? My grandfather was from Transylvania. Maybe I should have been more careful as I passed the cemetary in my neighborhood last night
