There are certainly some nice rides in the hands of members here.
Here is my summer toy (sadly in hibernation for the next few months). It's an '05 Mazda RX8. Since I like "different" I had to go with a Wankel Rotary engined car. Gotta love a motor that has only 3 major moving parts... For those who don't know how a Rotary engine differs from a Piston engine, check here:

My winter car is my old '90 Eagle Talon Turbo AWD. The AWD, winter tires, and the fact that she's rusty now make it a perfect winter beater.

Me and my 96 Vic. I had a job interview that day. Yeah, I got it too.

Notice the "fake" vanity plate. Bonus points to those in the know.

My vette building buddy has a 64. I had one under restoration, but the tally go to be too much. It's the most overlooked of the mid year vettes and certainly the most affordable of that generation.

Can't see the plate well enough to make it out, but I bet other cars slow down whenever you get behind them!!
Congrats on landing the job!

Chris...
We're moving to get away from the stress of life in Calgary. This city has changed too much over the past few years. It's gotten too big too fast, traffic is an absolute nightmare, and crime has taken over every corner of the city. Neepawa will be a very refreshing change of life for us.
I was born and raised in Dauphin and always liked Neepawa, and it was just happenchance that we found the house that we bought. It will be really nice being close to Clear Lake, and I still have family in the Minnedosa area.
Because we're heavily mortgaged on our house in Calgary we won't clear enough to pay cash for the new place, but it will be close. We should be mortgage-free within a year or two. We will, however, have enough cash to pay for the little hotrod. Man's gotta have his toys, ya know!
Another bonus is there's alot of work available in Neepawa and I've pretty much already nailed down a job. Just have to have a face to face interview. Karen is making a few calls on Monday to see what she can find.

Chris...how do you like driving the RX8? I normally don't find too many modern cars appearances appealing, but I'm really drawn to the style of that one. It's "odd" enough looking (in my mind) that I like it.

Being an old Autocrosser, I'm drawn to exceptional performance handling as opposed to straight line speed, and that is what the RX8 is all about.
Even though the 8 is a true 4 Seater with suicide door rear access, it weighs less than 3000 lbs and has a beautifully balanced chassis. And the brakes are nothing short of phenomenal. I love driving this car.
And then there is the distinctive rotary engine sound... almost like a turbine. Also, the motor is somewhat low torque but makes gobs of horsepower based on RPM (9000 plus RPM redline). And because it has only revolving parts as opposed to reciprocating parts the motor is very smooth. You plant the "Go" pedal and it doesn't feel like it's accelerating that fast until you look at the Speedo and gasp. I had it up to 140 mph on an empty freeway in North Dakota this summer...
Its styling certainly does get a lot of looks. I think it's rather exotic looking.

Been here over two years now, but thanks none the less. You get mixed reactions in the car. Some refuse to even go 5 MPH near the limit or they try to ride in my blindspot. The pushbumper is there for a reason!
