Being an old Autocrosser, I'm drawn to exceptional performance handling as opposed to straight line speed, and that is what the RX8 is all about.

Even though the 8 is a true 4 Seater with suicide door rear access, it weighs less than 3000 lbs and has a beautifully balanced chassis. And the brakes are nothing short of phenomenal. I love driving this car.

And then there is the distinctive rotary engine sound... almost like a turbine. Also, the motor is somewhat low torque but makes gobs of horsepower based on RPM (9000 plus RPM redline). And because it has only revolving parts as opposed to reciprocating parts the motor is very smooth. You plant the "Go" pedal and it doesn't feel like it's accelerating that fast until you look at the Speedo and gasp. I had it up to 140 mph on an empty freeway in North Dakota this summer...

Its styling certainly does get a lot of looks. I think it's rather exotic looking.
