    Fun kilted outing

Hey there, folks. I went two public tonight functions with tons and tons of people. I went to our community tree lighting ceramony. That was loads of fun! There was a singing group there in 1800's English attire, lots of hot cider, lights, and about 400 people. I was wearing my Black Stewart kilt, matching tartan tie, white shirt, black leather duster, green socks, and matching flashes. I got a comment from a 4 year old girl wanting to know why I was wearing a skirt. Her mommy shushed her. I said "No, it's OK." And I proceeded to explain to her what a kilt is. She thought it was really cool when I was done telling her about my family history, and she wanted to know if she had any Celt in her. I later went to the singing group and asked them if the knew Auld Lang Syne in honor of St Andrew. The guy I asked said "We're English!" I told him "That's OK- I'll forgive you. But do you know the song?" Of course they didn't, but oh well.
Then off to the Christmas party for my mom's church choir. One of the attendees was a McFarlane. We got to talking about our family histories and such. He had no idea what his family tartan looked like, so I directed him to our lovely little community here and told him that there were tons of resources to be found here that would help to see his tartan, and get a kilt in it. So all in all, it was a good time! What did everyone else do this evening?

That sounds like it was a lot of fun. I didn't do anything much today, but plan to do my ritual kilted trip to the grocery store and or Walmart tomorrow. I'll have to decided which kilt and shirt. Thanks for telling us about your evening.

I went out for the 1st time in my SWK Irish National. Me and the GF went to a Celtic store in Frankfort, cause I was picking up some Lochcarron hose. Got some looks but no comments other than the owner thought I was competeing in Highland games. Nice to know I LOOK strong.

We went out to a Christmas party last night. No pics but I wore my Carolina district tartan w/ black accessories. There were about 80 people there and I got 5 or 6 of Grant's kilt checks over the course of the evening.

Went to my wife's work Christmas supper/dance. Spent most of the day looking for a solid bottle green tie, finally found one at a thrift shop.

Got a lot of nice compliments, one skirt comment but that was a friend and it was quiet. Had a bit of a scare when some lady grabbed the apron and held it up a bit but she was just saying she really loves this: another friend of my wife.

Anyway, we ate, we danced and then went out to the car in a -3°C (26.6°F) flurry, not bad. Car seat were cold, though, ha.

Kilted snow shoveling (SWK Irish National and my $10 Argylle from the band closet) after a church party last night! I tried to shovel away the effects of a snow storm that occurred during the party so that nobody would hurt themselves. AND...I didn't even get cold (though I DID have to use my asthma inhaler afterward!).

My Farquarson had its debut last night. My wife & I went to a local performance of Messiah. Over the years I have acquired recordings of eight distinct performances by different orchestras but had never before attended a live performance and had never suspected what I was missing. Last night's performance was brilliant.

The audience reaction to my kilt was quite gratifying. Before the performance we got only two raised eyebrows and smiles, but during the intermission we got seven compliments from ladies and two from gentlemen. After the performance, five more from ladies.

Apparently a kilt is even more of a babe magnet than a puppy is---and kilts don't piddle.

Nothing unusual happened at my kilted Walmart trip. Guess I just look normal in a kilt.
