It just doesn't make sense to save and save and save for one five or six hundred dollar wool kilt when I almost never wear a suit and want to wear a kilt out and about. That perfect hang and swing isn't as important to me as being in a kilt as often as possible, plus there's sixty-two tartans to choose from. I feel better about life now.

I'm not trying to change your decision, as it sounds like a good one for you. I do have to say though, that you can wear the traditional tailored kilt out and about. Now I wouldn't want to wear one working on a car or some other dirty job, but I've worn mine on walks, to festivals (including beer festivals), as well as formally. That's the beauty of the wool kilt; you can dress it up or down.

You've reached the crux of the argument that only each individual can decide...

Which is better: several kilts that look good for the price or one kilt that looks great but is much more expensive?

Is a wool tank worth the money? That depends on how much money you have and how much you value a wool kilt. To some, there is NO comparison and it must be a wool kilt no matter what the cost. To others, the price is the deciding factor and the looks are "close enough" for them. Neither is wrong, they're just 2 different ways of thinking.
