I was comfortable. I had only worn it with a button-up dress shirt before. I will end up with a simpler sporran at some point, but I'll have to sell a few junk motorcycle parts before I can do that...
Thanks for the input. I'm usually a pretty low-key (sloppy?) type of dresser, but I try to look presentable when I wear the kilt. It stands out enough already. No need to make it look bad at the same time.

Check out Stillwater for a low cost day sporran (you probably won't even have to sell anything...I think they have them for under $20!). AND, I love your location - Minne-snow-ta!! A friend of mine lives there; we just received a letter telling us how cold it has been in Sleepy Eye!

I like that look. I wear a belt similar to that with my casual clothes, but I do prefer not to use a dressier sporran. Not so much because it's dressy but because it doesn't hold enough junk! I had to get a nice roomy day sporran that I could stuff full of everything I like to carry around.

I think it balances out. I'd say you successfully bent the rules until they all straightened out. No long sleeve white t-shirt is offset by the the cantle on the sporran. Belt bridges cantle and shirt. Formal and informal balanced.
