I only know of two people that own a kilt in this tartan, but more are being made. It was pushed by the Milwaukee St. Andrews Society and Clan Young (who is headquartered in Milwaukee). Last summer, at the Milwaukee Highland Games, they had a raffle for a tank made in the Wisconsin tartan, which I unfortunately did not win.

But luckily, there is such a big demand for the Wisconsin tartan among the Society and other Scots that they keep weaving it, thus keeping the price down.

Don't forget that Matt, Barb & Kathy all can do custom orders -- that was how I was able to order my Iowa tartan kilt.

    Beautiful tartan Greg!

Not sure about the Balmoral though Grant - a little geometric?

I think I am going to start chasing my alma mater (St Andrews) to go for an official tartan!

As we fantasize about buying that cabin or cottage or small farm up that way, the possibilities are split between Minnesota and Wisconsin. Like that land up along the Mississippi River...okay, if it's done flooding but there's no guarantees, right?

So maybe this is the tipping point...which state has the better tartan.

    Minnesota State Tartans

    The MN Tartan

    MN Tartan MN Dress Tartan
The colors found in these tartans are symbols of Minnesota. The primary color is the Minnesota Tartan is Blue. The name Minnesota is from a Dakota word minisota meaning water that reflects the sky.

    # Blue for The Land of 10,000 Lakes, the royal blue background of our state flag, the blueberry in our state muffin.
    # Green for the forests and fields, the Norway Pine (the state tree) forestry, fishing, and conservation of the environment.
    # Dark Pink for the pink in the showy Lady Slipper (the state flower) and the heart of the people. When the color runs through the blue, it becomes purple, the color of the thistle, Scotland's national flower.
    # Yellow/Gold for the fall colors, maize, the yellow Lady Slipper, a color found in the agate (the state gemstone), and the Monach butterfly (the state butterfly), and the color trim on our state flag.
    # White/Ivory for the white in the loon (the state bird), snow, the morel (the state mushroom), and milk (the state drink).
    # Black for the black in the loon (the state bird), highways and byways, and wild rice (the state grain).

You're sure that's "dark pink" in that Minnesota tartan...it's not "maroon" by any chance, is it?
