Neat-o Pleats

Ok, here is my question.

I've seen here, and on other sites, pictures of guys with kilts that have a differing, often contrasting fabric inside the pleats. Now, I also recall someone specifically making these kilts.

My question is: could someone either point me to the maker of said style of kilts, or assist in helping me make one of my own?

We did have a member who was ex military and located in the Pacific North West (if memory serves) but not seen him post for some time who made his own kilts and did stuff like that.

Sorry my mind is blank about his nick though.

Our very own CameronTaylor (that is his "pleat shot" in the picture) made the kilt - and is wearing it at one of our Nor-Cal Rabble kilt nights. The kilt is very nicely done. Drop him a PM. He would be happy to hear of your interest in his kilt.

My lovely Flame-Haired Celtic Amazon Goddess made herself a box pleated "Cheerleader style" mini kilt with pleats with tartan exteriors and and solid color interiors.

You need a kilt builder that likes a challenge aand nobody is more challenged than Ashton! As an added bonus he has some lovely pink camouflage fabric he can use.

Jeff at Pittsburgh Kilts made this "tri-color" Arizona Flag kilt for me...and I promptly out grew it. Too bad the other kilted Zonies aren't the size I used to be.

Jeff made his kilts with an adjustable waist. This puppy has three waist sizes 39", 40", and 41". Length is 22 1/2". You can see one of the side pockets in the pic posted. He even lined it to match the pleat underneath it.

The concept when we designed it was to have the colors of the Arizona flag and the spirit of the Roughriders from Arizona in the Spanish American War. Todd contributed a crossed sabers cavalry patch. Its on the cloth sporran in matching blue with a yellow stripe in the center. There's also an Arizona flag patch "kilt pin" on the front apron and a small arizona flag patch on the rear pocket flap. We were trying to avoid a "circus" or "cheerleader" look.

Don't know that I can describe how the pleats are made for you guys. There are six red and five yellow. The underpleats are creased...the blue is just sort of the cover. Fabric is cotton twill.

Jeff also put in a 5 1/2" x 6 1/2" underapron pocket. And he put in a 12" deep cloth lining that hangs free from the inside waistband. You can see in the hanging pic below that he made a wide waistband. Belt loops are 3" wide.
