    Which Shirt? Now with Pic.

Here's the deal. My wifes work Christmas party is coming up. Every year I wear my Kilt w/ PC Jacket. This year I will be wearing anArgyle Jacket instead Heres the Question? Almost everybody wears a white dress shirt, tie to match Kilt and so on.

What would be the opinions of wearing a black shirt, Wallace tartan tie/Wallace kilt and black jacket. Either black or white dress sporran, cream hose and gullies.

With just the black shirt and tie I think it would look pretty sharp. Is it to much black with the Jacket also?

I think there's the potential to be too much black and it might not be as traditional. But I definitely think it could look sharp. Why don't you try the whole ensemble now and see what you think. Then you can tinker with it a bit. If you kinda like what you see but you're not sure, you could post pics and we could maybe give more constructive feedback. But my initial response would be that it would look dark, but good.

I often wear black shirts and light coloured or silver ties with suits. I'd do the same with my Argyle.

I like your idea of Wallace kilt and tie and black shirt and jacket...please allow me to suggest black hose with this ensemble...it would be a better fit!

With a PC, I would stick with a white shirt. With an argyle it's a toss up. I often wear a black shirt and silver tie (matches my weathered kilt), but my argyle is charcoal tweed not a solid black. Try it all togeter and see if it works for you, and than ask your wife her opinion, as it's her party after all

Since you usually wear your PC is it safe to assume that the dress is dinner jacket for those not in kilts?

If that is the case then I would stick with the PC and white shirt, cream hose and white sporran your other choice doesn't sound quite right for black tie.. If the dress is semi-formal then give it a go. I think a semi-dress sporran would be a better choice than a formal one and i am not sure about the hose, I would probably need to see it. black hose might be a bit to much but who knows.

If you've got a black shirt, try it and then go outside in sunlight. Some blacks seem to clash with each other.

Get your wife to take a picture of it: you can decide together.

Here's one with charcoal. I think it might go better without the vest...
