Reflections
As the 4th person to join XMarks, I've seen it grow from its infancy to the dominant gathering place for kilted folks around the world.
I think this is due to the daily life stories told, the kiltmaking attempts of non-kiltmakers, the history discussed, and most importantly, the everyday participation of kiltmakers, either through sponsorship, posts, or helping would-be kiltmakers.
Let's not forget Hank and the Mods. They do a tough job balancing free posting and anarchy. Well done, lads!

A long time ago when hot pants were in fashion I was wearing maroon patent leather boots and satin blouse, ( me being female this was OK ) along with green hot pants and cap.
I was out shopping when I heard a screech of brakes and a bang - a van driver had run off the road and was glaring at me accusingly.
Shift forward thirty years and I was wearing a kilt and walking along the road to the shops when I came to a windy crossroads, and behind me there was a screech of brakes and a bang. A driver had failed to notice that the lights had turned red and the car in front of him had stopped. He got out of the car and glared at me accusingly.
The power of the kilt!!
Not that I would want to cause accidents every day of the week, of course, but just small ones from time to time.....
Oh the joy of finding a garment I can make easily (sorry) remake when I lose weight, which adjusts to variations through the day or week, and which even makes me attract attention in the street.
Then I find a forum of people who understand this phenomenon.
Joy complete.

BTW Bob: are you pleating it to the stripe, or to the sett?
Good Hit!
Both? Neither? I'm so confused Even with one single stripe I was able to make it crooked several times. Foolproof? Never underestimate the power of a fool. My eyes were "buggy" by the time I had finished the pleating. I really wanted one with the stripes vertical but that would have meant many panels sewn together so I settled for horizontal. Maybe I'll try another sometime. Should I worry about having too many kilts? Photos coming (I promise)

I waited until today to post on this thread. Today marks one year of my being here on x-marks, in that year much has changed, and I have learned quite a bit about myself. During the past year I have met some of you, and hopefully will meet more of you in the future. X-marks has helped me through breaking up with my ex, and I think this place really did help to keep me sane during that difficult time, I'm not sure how it would have been if it were not for this forum.
As far as kilts and kilting goes I've gone from a once in a while kilt wearer who owned one kilt to a daily kilt-wearer who owns eleven kilts with number twelve on order, thats about one kilt a month. I feel more like myself and can hold my head high as one of the few men who has the good sense to proudly kilt up.
Thanks x-marks for educating this would be kiltie, I'm so happy this forum was here for me when I needed people to talk to.

I joined about 2 years ago, I think, but didn't really start participating here until this year. I've discovered so much, learned so much, and met a few of you. You're a part of my daily life. I've found the questions I've usually come up with have already been answered, so first I have to thank you all for your contributions and also the webmasters for the excellent search engine.
You all are a great read every day. My spirits get a great boost every session. Thanks to all!

I'm glad I found the site. It has been an enjoyable experience. I've learned much about tartan kilts.
