Even if she meant to aim it at others ignorance, it still seemed rather dismissive to kilt-wearing scots in particular and the scottish in general. But so it goes.

Whoops. Hey guys, calm down. She married a Scot. She already knows everything about kilts. I think we should apologize to her for trying to educated her. She already has this covered. I mean, she lived in Scotland. Obviously she knows everything about anything Scottish. Looks like we're wrong on this one. Sorry Mrs. McEwan
...sorry that you're a condescending b*#$h

Why do I have the feeling Mrs. McEwan wears the pants in her family and makes sure her husband does too.

Seriously! That response of hers was barely worth sending. It was both dismissive and condescending.

Whoa guys, I think you're misreading what Miss McEwan is saying. I totally got a different impression of her blog and response.
First of all, the electricity comment on her blog was obviously a jab towards The View. It wasn't in anyway a jab against Scots.
Regarding her response, to Chef's message. I really don't think she was being condescending. I think she was simply stating why she made the electricity comment; she meant it to be "ironic," because someone had taken offense to it. She was just explaining herself. Were we expecting an apology? I don't think an apology was warranted. Saying that she lived in Scotland, married a Scotsman, etc., I don't think was meant to say "I know more about kilt wearing than you(Chef)." I read it more as her saying "I'm on your(kilt-wearing) side."
Was her reply a little blunt? Yes, but oh well. Anyway, that's just how I interpretted it.

Well with her response I understood what she was trying to say, I just don't think she did a good job of it. I'm sure that part of the reason we took it differently is she is neither informed about kilts nor did she identify her Scottish connections.
However, I will hold by my comment about her being condescending, since I took from her response that she considers me too stupid to understand her superior wit.

You're right. She could've put more effort into her response.
