Won't Get to be Kilted

Looks like I won't be able to have a kilted day on my upcoming trip to New Mexico. The trip will be too short and hurried, and it is a choice between packing gifts or a kilt. I won't have time to wait for checked bags, so that is out. The trip is about my sister's graduation from nursing school and not my kilt. I haven't seen her in eight years.
Thanks everybody for your input on whether to use the bunny sporran or the leather sporran. Guess the pictures will have to do for the rest of the family.

I will be going back out there several times next year, so i will have chances to fly kilted. In fact, she's getting married next year, and I will plan on being kilted at her wedding. I'll use this trip to watch what I have to go through at the airport and think about how it would go being kilted. Kind of just thankful I get to see my sister again, so I'm not going to worry too much about it.

It's easy. One of the neat things about a (traditional or semi-traditional) kilt is that all your stuff goes into the sporran. I've flown in a SWK heavyweight and wasn't all too happy about it, but that was eight yards of wool, my wide butt and a too-small economy class seat. My preferred "flying kilt" is a USAK semitraditional (blue Ramsay, in fact) with velcro on the left hip and a single buckle and strap on the right hip.

People patting down their pockets for any metal objects have been intrigued when I simply undid the sporran strap and put everything down on the scanner.

I've found the Marton Mills poly-viscose to be wrinkle free, comfortable even in those &^*#-@*$ too small economy class seat, and, for me, "the way to fly."

If you're not up for it, hey, no biggie. it's something to keep in mind, though.

All my kilts have metal buckles, so I will think about getting a kilt for flying. I remember a thread on that. Thanks.
It's kind of like I don't know what is allowed for regular stuff in the back pack I'm taking, much less with the kilt thing and a bunch of other things and so on. It's very nurvracking just packing.
