			Inverness style rain cape

With the coming of the inclement weather and the flix of all the snow, I got to thinking about our own brand of bad weather here in Southern California – mainly rain.
Now I have all kinds of kilts and kilt accessories, but I have never purchased any rain gear.

Now I think I will invest a bit in one of these.

Has anyone had any good or bad luck with the Inverness style of band cloaks?

They seem pretty fair priced, for something that I will only use for two or three weeks a year.

 Comments?

James, can you post a link to where these can be purchased? Might be willing to give one a try on the damp northern California coast. Thanks!

Hi James,it is a nearly a must have,so if your list of must haves has run out an Inverness cape is next on the list. This side of the pond there is a chap in Glasgow that makes tweed or black waterproof types.I cannot recal his name but if you google "Inverness capes"it will probably turn up.Let me know if that does not work and I will do a bit more research.

The one I really like is here. But a quick google for Inverness cape or pipe band cloak, or pipers supplies, quickly yeilds things like here or here or here or here.

I have long wanted an Inverness Cape. For a lot of years, I shopped the internet and highland games for a good one.
Many of the folk were sucked into buying one of the cheap, plastic "Inverness Cape" costing about a weeks pay! Deplorable.

Ok, Maybe not a weeks pay, however they still range from $70 to $120 bucks for a cheap raincoat.

I'd really like an actual wool cape. Something that would actually keep me warm and dry.

If it were me, I'd stay away from the nylon or lightweight cotton ones. Kilts are very warm as it is. When I need a cape, I need something WARM, as well as something to protect the kilt as well.

					Hi,
I have a nylon Inverness cape and I love it. Perfect for outdoor kilting, photographing and hiking. It costs here about 54,-€ which should be around 45$.
The oiled or waxed Canvas capes I found too heavy and uncomfortable.
