Interestingly enough, the statue of Wallace in front of the Edinburgh Castle has him in period-appropriate clothing.

And might I say her cook books are absolutely fantastic and well worth the modest price!
I've bought all of them for my wife as a Birthday gift.

And another one!
This time from my other sister who is, actually, really supportive of my kilt-wearing.
Unfortunately, she's an eldest child in the bad kind of way. She's NEVER wrong. She doesn't need to read books or study to know best.
She doesn't even need her friend's co-worker's third cousin's friend to tell her the facts. She just KNOWS.She's a good person and I love her, but I've learned to just nod and agree with everything she says.
I mentioned to her last night that I would be making a kilt for a friend. That it would be the Black Watch tartan.
'Doesn't he know that the Black Watch tartan is copyrighted by the Black Watch regiment and it's illegal for anyone else to wear it?'
Uhm... sure. Yeah.
Later that same night. I was having a bit of a laugh at the Kilt Do's and Don'ts thread while she was visiting. Came upon a picture of kilt trousers. (Which were in The Royal Stuart in any case.)
She pipes up with:
'They got sued for that, you know. Because they made some in the Black Watch.'
It seems that I keep doing all these dreadful, illegal things.
I'm going to get arrested by the kilt police any minute and then sued by both the Black Watch regiment and the Lord Lyon.
What to do!?
If only Matt wasn't American I'm sure he could help.

My brother is the same sort of first-born. I think the attraction to him of this behavior is that it lets him think himself authoritative while sparing him the often arduous and boring labor of research. Unfortunately, because he has no idea when to stop, this behavior has cost him three marriages and every good job he has ever had.

Arlen please give her a break. At least she pronounced it as Black Watch and not blackwatch!

I feel really sorry for all the Campbells, Grants, and Munros. How do they even have a peny to spare after all those fines?

It's best not to, shall we say "mis-quote" your other sister when she is a member of this board.

That's why I got my Grant Hunting kilt in the ancient colours. It's just enough of a difference from the Black Watch tartan we usually see(modern colours) to throw off the kilt police.
