Oh Yeah! That's a nice looking kilt. It's my first look at a box pleat. Thanks a lot! Now I gotta' have one!

Looking good. Some crisp looking pleats there.

I made the belt buckle. It is made from antique wrought iron. The buckle started out as an 8" long piece of 3/8" square rod (which had been forged from a piece of a giant size anchor chain link). The 3/8" square rod was then pointed on both ends, and rolled up into a "jelly roll" and forge welded solid at the same time (it takes a while, and a lot of heat). When it is all welded up solid, then it is flattened out, and the bit that's not buckle ground away, leaving what you see. There is a grain pattern in the iron that looks like a hurricane, or a big spiral in the grain after polishing and etching with some acid to bring it up.
The Robert Noble tartan is truly impressive material, and Matt's workmanship is first class as always.
Thanks for the kind words all ! Merry Christmas ! It really was a big surprise to get it today.
Too bad I'm not more of a "party guy" I guess. It will have to do for family gathering and next months Presbytery meeting, does that count ?

OK, from the official Newsome Jonesing List Howard ordered this in August, mine was on September 24th. Matt is catching up but, if we cancel his Christmas celebrations...
Hope you get your weathered MacPherson next week Howard.
