I have two Gordon Modern - knife pleat 13 oz and box pleat 18 oz. the 18 oz was the second. I go a good deal on the material and wanted something different for it. The box seemed the way to go.

I have several tartans in different weights and/or pleats. When I first started building up my wardrobe, I didn't know that much about pleating choices, and most were to sett. Now that I know more about pleating options, I have gravitated towards pleating to stripe, and not always the same stripe. I really like the appearance of a different look, for front and back. With some tartans, the choice of pleating accent results in a different kilt entirely. In some cases duplicate tartans were acquired, because I had opportunities to get higher value for $$ spent. For instance, when the Thistle Barn went out of business, I picked up two kilts in tartans that I already had, because I could not pass up the deal.

In the case of the Leatherneck tartan, not only do I really like the design and color pattern, but I have a very strong tie to it. Heck I have an ex-army friend who only has one kilt, and he chose Leatherneck cause he just likes it!

If a deal jumped up in Back Stewart (or any other tartan for that matter) that I also really like, I would not hesitate, just because I already have that tartan.

(6)Leathermeck; tank (sett) casual (stripe-2) (sett) sport (sett) [Newsome box (stripe)on order]

    (2)Wallace; Tank (sett) casual (stripe)

(3)Black Stewart; Casual (sett)(stripe) Lightweight (stripe)

    (2)MacQueen; Casual (sett)(stripe)

Can you ever have too many tartans? In you pants days, how many pairs of jeans did (or do) you have?
