A Christmas gift to all
Having thoroughly enjoyed the Christmas music site recently provided here as a link, and having made Haggis yesterday, I thought it appropriate to wish you all a special Christmas and help to start the New Year on a relaxed and pleasurable note by way of sharing a link to one of my own favorite enjoyments, Irish coffee!
For years while traveling to San Francisco and what was then the Santa Clara Valley, now the Silicon Valley, we always made it a point to begin our work with a stop at the Buena Vista for some attitude adjustment prior to moving on to San Jose and Santa Clara. A few hours of simply unwinding while recovering from jet lag really helped.
Nowadays, the wife and I love the Irish coffee in the evenings, so much so that I gifted her with the special glasses this year.
Enjoy, http://www.thebuenavista.com/irishcoffee2.html and have a blessed Christmas!
The cream is best served at room temp, and bourbon or scotch both work well as substitutes. The key is to keep everything HOT, as in room temp cream, hot glasses, room temp liquor, and HOT coffee.
GOD BLESS YOU ALL!

I just plunk in two tablespoons of sugar and a shot of Baileys... Makes me all warm and fuzzy. Thanks for that recipe! It sounds way better than my lazy way of doing it!

I'm really lazy when it comes to adding stuff to coffee, I just glug in the Bailey's till it's a nice creamy color.
Merry Christmas

Possibly two or three. Sounds so good I think I will have one right now.

Interesting, the Buena Vista recipe I have calls for brown sugar rather than cubed.
An aside, for those who might not know: Irish coffee was invented by Chef Joe Sheridan in Foynes. The concoction was created to warm up the travellers on the early flying boats that stopped on the coast of Ireland. When a passenger asked if the coffee was Brazilian Chef Sheridan replied that it was Irish coffee, and so it began.

sounds delicious. But I dunno if I can bear to part with any of my sipping whiskey in such a manner. I may have to use whisky instead. ![Wink](http://www.xmarksthescot.com/forum/images/smilies/icon_wink.gif)
Or bourbon of course.

Absolutely agree that I wouldn't use my best sipping whiskey OR whisky. Even hearing of folks using the finest in mixed drinks makes me shudder! One of my Christmas gifts was a bottle of fine LAPHROAIG. The only way to enjoy such a rare blessing is very lightly chilled (room temp around 65 degrees F.) and a tiny touch of good water.
The Irish Cream and coffee is good, but not the same as the step by step Irish Coffee.
Also, having watched them made by the dozens in the referenced restaurant, I recall the use of plain sugar, though darker sugars might please other tastes.
The wife loves one in the evening. If I want an evening of quiet, two shots of bourbon and she's off to sleep with a smile. Diabolical that!
