Hey there Retro Red!
It's nice to see someone playing a c-melody sax. Looks like a Buescher?

WOW, I'm very impressed - you really know about saxophones, Brian!
Yep, it's a Buescher C-Melody sax (serial# 151808). I figure it's somewhere around 90 years old (original case, too). My great-uncle gave it to me when I started playing sax, back in 1965. It had just been sitting out in his garage for many years. We had to replace all the pads & cork, but it's been a great little instrument ever since. I've always enjoyed the tone of it & the fact that I don't have to transpose stuff; never understood why they stopped makin' 'em.
From your ID & knowledge, I'm guessing you play sax, too. What one(s) do you have?

Hey Retro!
I didn't want to hijack your thread, so I just sent you a PM. I forgot to mention though....there's a new c-melody that just came on the market. You can read about it at the saxontheweb.net forum (c-melody subforum). It's getting some really good reviews. Not that you want to give up that classic Buescher though. BTW, i really like that utilikilt....is that the postal blue? It looks pretty sharp.

I'm relieved! though a mere flute player, I was looking at those pix & thinking Either Retro Red is bigger than I thought, or that's a C melody!.
