Kilt night, Louisville KY January 12th
Alright, you lot! While I know that some disdain other forums, I'll invite those who are interested.
On said other forum, we are organizing a kilt night for January 12th, in Louisville KY. At the moment, the hope is that we can raid a table or three at Bluegrass Brewing Company in St. Matthews (suburb of Louisville). Since there are no motels or hotels within walking distance, it would be wise to have at least one or two designated drivers so that folks can carpool to and from lodgings. I'll work on seeing if we can get a block of rooms, although my taste in motels runs toward the cheapskate side. I can work up a list of options around one interstate interchange and post it further down this thread.
"Snow date" will be the 19th.
For those interested, we can also arrange to meet for breakfast the next morning, assuming all are able to find their way out of their rooms.

I personally vote for the Rudyard Kipling, if it is still open (it was for sale last I heard), but BBC is cool. I'm going to try and make it, but not completely sure at this point.

The Rud has been for sale for several years. Ken Pyle, the owner, never seems to be able to find anyone willing to pay what he thinks it's worth.
Ken used to be my sister's landlord, too. Nice guy.
The advantage to Bluegrass Brewing Company is manifold: Like the Rud, it's locally owned. Unlike the Rud, it's closer to the reasonable-rate hotels. The food is good, and if it gets too crowded or if we get chased out, Brandon's is right next door, with their very good selection of draft ales (I don't even think they have swill on tap, although if you ask for a bottle, they have one or two varieties).
I'll be posting motel/hotel information later this week.

Bikeolounger, did you by chance PM the rest of the Bluegrass State inhabitants? I know of a few more on here.

We're several hours out of your way then, and we had plans, perhaps next time there is a Newport kilt night...

carpooling
String, there will likely be some folks coming through Cincinnati, should you want to carpool. I know of a fellow coming from around Dayton, at least.
