Maybe too much Boy Scout training or living in an area where the plague still is about makes me cautious of road kill...
Curious, thanks

It was a winter kill and was pretty well frozen when I scooped it. I was more concerned with rabies or tularemia. I always were gloves. The tanning process is pretty aggressive and knocks out the critters and it gets washed one final time. As far as I know the plague has been pretty well eradicated in Weare, NH Besides if any bugs get on me, they'll just have to get used to the smell just like everyone else! I've since discovered that it is illegal to pick up roadkill, probably for that very reason so I don't do it anymore.
As far as Peter Marques, I don't know that gentleman but if I ever meet him I will say hello
Bob
