My 1st kilt!!!

Welcome from NE England. I've worn a kilt in London on many occasions, including a denim one for Gay Pride, and with great success. Soho loves the kilt !

What size kilt you wear is determined largely by where you place its "waist". It can be at the hips, where we usually wear trousers (low-rise); or at the "natural waist" up near the navel, as a traditional kilt is worn (high rise). It may be something in between, but you'll find the proper spot. The size will vary from one maker to another, so be sure to follow the individual kiltmaker's instructions for measuring!!!

Having a standard length 24-inch kilt, you may decide on the waist location to set the length where you like it. If you're average height, it may tend toward the high-rise. Some makers offer a choice of lengths, and some are custom made to your measurements.

If you need to take in the waist, you can move the top buckle on the right, and (if it has one) the strap of the left side buckle, by up to 2 inches. If hook-and-loop fasteners (Velcro) are used, it's easy to add more to the underneath apron (don't have to worry about whether the stitches show). Don't try to cut out the old Velcro, simply add on to whichever side you need it.

thanks allot for your help with that... I'm going to move or change my straps but its ok for now i wear the kilt to my belly button and the end is just above my knee. and if i tuck anything in i fold the top of the kilt so it looks shorter....

my patches and stuff are at my friends house from another town so there wont be any pics of the kilt yet my sporran is done though.
