Tartans & Kilts
One of the interesting things about this forum, old threads reappears and gives those who missed it a chance to add. So this my addition;
FAMILY TARTANS:
Paternal:
1. Malcolm – my surname; I have a tank in ancient and two belted plaids in modern
Taylor – Grandmother’s family (don't have)
4. Morris – SWK thrifty; Great Grandmothers family – sept of House of Gordon –
Maternal:
5. Robertson – Grandmother – Robertson red belted plaid
McRae – Great Grandmother (don't have)
Others:
6. McKenzie – SWK Standard; first tartan of the Liverpool Scottish Kings Regiment – my mother’s uncle James Robertson was in the Liverpool Kings
7. Stewart Black – USA Kilts; Robertson’s clan support of Bonnie Prince Charlie
8. Kaki Canvas- Buzz Kidder
9. Tiger Stripe Camo - AmeriKilt
on order;
10. St. Patrick - M. Newsome; to recognize my NW Irish DNA lineage and my interest in Celtic Christianity
12. St Columba; box pleat and belted plaid – M. Newsome; to commemorate my Clan’s ties to St. Columba and my participation in the 2003 re-enactment of the Voyage of St. Columba
On Friday at work I was kilted and one of my residents asked me how many kilts I had. I was a little unsure how to answer her. Now I know – 9 with three more on the way!
