The trouble with weight loss.
About six months ago, I decided it was time to lose some weight. Since then I have shrunk out of one kilt (a Stillwater Economy), I'm just about to shrink out of a second kilt (a Stillwater Thrifty), leaving me with a single kilt that fit's well (at the moment), although I can make the Thrifty fit for a while by adding some more Velcro at the waistline.
I intend to order a kilt from The Frugal Corner next week. I also intend to order another Thrifty kilt this Friday. My first kilt from Stillwater was a 3XL. I'm ordering the new kilt in an XL.
My dilemma is what tartan to order the kilt in. My first kilt (the 3XL) was a Black Watch. Red_Raven_Studios has it, and intends to modify it into a skirt for herself. Her son has a Black Watch kilt. I could order a new Black Watch kilt and we'd have a matching set.
On the other hand, I really like the loudness of the Buchanan.
Decisions, decisions...

If you like LOUD, try McLeod.
Also, congrats on the weight loss. The longer you are here, the more kilts you can buy and wear.

Stillwater doesn't sell a McLeod. Anyway, Buchanan gives McLeod a run for it's money in the loud category.

When in doubt, get both.[
I tried to ask my inner curmudgeon before posting, but he sprayed me with the garden hose…
Yes, I have squirrels in my brain…

Congratulations on the weight loss. I'm currently going through that myself.
Get the kilt that makes you the happiest as a reward for all the hard work it took to get there!

Do you have any connection to Buchanan? If so, then definitely get that.
If not, I'd still say get the Buchanan. It's something new! You can always save up your pennies and dimes for a Black Watch later.

Congratulations on the weight loss that spawned this whole "problem" by the way!

I don't have any connection to Buchanan that I know of. I'm leaning toward it anyway. I don't have any connection to McKenzie, either, and my Weathered McKenzie is my favorite kilt.

I dont have any connection to Buchanan, but at the NH highland games they were a great bunch and "adopted" me for the weekend after I met some of them in a diner before the games even started. Made me glad that I had picked up a thrifty Buchanan just a week before the games just to check out stillwater kilts, and I was even more glad that I had brought it along with me in my truck even though I wasn't planning on wearing it either, but ended up wearing it instead =). (I was going to hand stitch down the back a little while sitting around a campfire, but ended up chatting all night instead)
