Stillwater kilt yardage
I no longer fit into the first Stillwater kilt I bought, which was an Economy in Black Watch, with a 52" waist. Red_Raven_Studios disassembled it this morning. The nice thing about them not cutting out the extra cloth after sewing in the pleats is that when you disassemble it, you end up with a length of tartan that you can use for something else (She's going to make a tartan skirt for herself). Anyway, the 52" waist SWK Economy kilt yielded a use-able length of tartan a hair under 24 inches wide, and a hair over 6 yards long.

Thank you so much for posting this, ChromeScholar. That's very neat, and well... it does show that their streight with the yardage and stuff. I wonder if the "thrifties are uncut like that and can be un-seamed in the same way.
I tried to ask my inner curmudgeon before posting, but he sprayed me with the garden hose…
Yes, I have squirrels in my brain…

No; he's phasing out the economy line. If you see something you like, in your size, buy it now, 'cause it won't be restocked.

I think I have three Economies and Six thrifties now. I think they make great warm weather, knock around, putter in the yard, change the oil kind of kilts. Properly pressed and with the fell sewn down, I think they are very usable causual kilts.
When I saw that he was phasing out the Economy line. I got one, not my size, but on sale, that all I had to do was move the buckles, and sew down the fell. I wear it at least twice a month.

The Thrifties and Standards are both uncut.
