PC jacket comparison
Hey folks! I have a question- I'm buying myself a Prince Charlie jacket/vest, and I am looking at the USAK and SportKilts sets. Sport Kilts jackets are less expensive, which is good. But I want a good quality jacket that will last me a long time as well. Can anyone give me a comparison of the two?
To give a little info, I would be wearing it with either a Black Stewart, Colorado State, or Wolfe clan kilt. The Wolfe can be seen in my avatar. Also I have a 52 inch chest if that matters.
Thanks in advance for any advice!!

The Sport Kilt PC just does not look right, the buttons are in the wrong position and the cut looks all wrong, a PC jacket is supposed to be a tight fit. If I were you I would spend the little extra for the USA Kilt PC as it does look correct.

PC - Comparison - or Conversion....?
I don't have either of those PC's, but I think you should do what I'm going to do.
I'm going to go ..here.. and get me a high quality tail coat, and convert it.
I have a mediocre PC, but I want something better. My tailor can do the conversion, with direction, photos, drawings, etc, etc for around $35. So I will end up with a great PC for less than $100.
Food for thought.

My PC I bought at an estate sale, but I believe that it is a Sport Kilt PC. The only difference that I could tell from the pictures is that the buttons were rearranged. Here is the picture from my senior prom:

I accidentally damaged my PC the other week (caught it on a nail) so I am replacing it. I just ordered a made-to-measure from Gleniff (I'll post a review when I get it). The total price including carriage was $340. So for a man of your size that might be a good way to go.

they seem to be a good source. Black tailcoats are scarce right now (I saw boy's sizes), but will keep watching. In the process, I stumbled on this fellow:
funny long coat
... which looks as though it might be bobbed into an open-front doublet. I wonder whether I'd look like a refugee from a high school band. Might pull it off with a nice jabot, I suppose. The middle sizes are all short, but some of the excess fabric might go into a cuff...

That's not too bad at all! Can you give me a link? What was the turnaround time? I need it by April 10 at the latest. Thanks a lot!

Topp Mac has a good suggestion there. I would definitely advise against a "cheap" PC since the thing should last you for many years (assuming you don't wear one more than most people do). The look is everything, so hold out for a pretty good one or buy a really good tail coat and pay a good tailor to fix it for you. The tailoring is relatively easy (for a tailor!), so the only realy expense will probably be buying silver buttons.
Or, go on ebay and find a good one like I did. I think I paid about $240 or so.
