I have a bagpipe ringtone too. I cut mine from an MP3, using freeware also. Try Googling "Ringtone Making"

I have "Scotland the Brave" as the ringtone on my phone too. It's an older Nokia flip phone, I've had it a couple of years and it sounds good.
I used a program called AudioGizmo ringtone creator. It was free and lets you edit sound files to get what you want and then sends it to the phone as a message attachment.
My daughter used it to create tons of ringtones for her phones.

I have Scotland The Brave/Black Bear as my ringtone. I downloaded it from AT&T's website with no problem. The cost was $2.49.

Got it!!
Well, after a ridiculously convoluted procedure, I was able to download, edit and save a version of Scotland the Brave for my phone.
The clip is about 34 seconds long and I've got it as an MP3 file. Nice, clean, and now everyone in the office knows exactly whose phone is ringing.
If anyone wants a copy of the clip for their own phone, let me know and I'll email it. How to get your phone to play it is up to you...

I wish I had seen this thread sooner! I must second KFP's suggestion...go to phonezoo.com!! It is SUPER EASY and FREE!! How much better can life get than this?
Phonezoo.com already has pipe tunes available...no need for any downloading or editing...all you have to do is send what you want to your phone...and they give you step by step instructions on how to do it!! Its GREAT!!
I've had a bagpipe ringtone from there for some time now...it sounds very cool!! People always comment on it when my phone rings! In fact, when I had first put the pipes tone on my phone, when I'd be in the car and my phone would ring (because I was not yet used to it) I always got excited, "Wow! Someone is playing pipes around here...wonder if there is a parade or something?!!"

I've been hacking cell phone software for years (used to work for a provider)...
All of my ringtones are trimmed-down sections from MP3s (usually just the chorus... my phone goes to voicemail after 30 seconds).
I have 2... both clips from the Dropkick Murphy's 'Cadence To Arms'. One is just the pipes playing the main part of Scotland The Brave, and the other is the same with the full punk band playing along.
In my case, I use sound editing software, and my Motorola RAZR's sync software. All free, easy, and sound great.
