Robertson / Alex / David,

I plan to arrive from Glasgow by rail as before but I've been hearing horror stories about engineering works slowing down rail travel or even closing lines. How is the route from Glasgow to Dumfries? First Scotrail doesn't say anthing about that route but I want to be prepared.

Should be business as usual on the Dumfries line next week - all the big disruption seems to be on the West Coast Main Line at present.

Thanks Alex. I'll be coming the following week but hopefully Network Rail can't finish bothering Mr. Branson on the West Coast and then get over to SE Scotland to screw me up in that length of time.

Good news xmarkers. I've thought better of it and will be joining you on Friday 18th for the first night. Sadly, I still can't force myself to the supper night.
Gasp! Horror! Fore-warning. My friend joining me is not a kilt wearer but I'm sure you'll make him welcome just the same. He comes from Burns Country of Ayrshire so perhaps you can let him off. Really looking forward to it.

The more the merrier I say. There are those of us around who DO wear the dreaded troosers. In my case earlier today before I donned the kilt to host a dinner party tonight. I dare say, however that if you also come to the SECOND kilt night / pub crawl on the 25th. that after seeing all the kiltedness the week before he might be a convert.

In other words (without all that blithering) please come and join us as well on the 25th for a pub crawl and bring your friend. The more the merrier!
