Crocker's Kilt!
Ok, so I promised Ted Crocker I would post some pictures of him. Since I am always punctual, I have finally managed to do so almost a week later
And now, for the X-Marks debut, I present to you Ted Crocker in his SWK Nightstalker, complete with leather vest and friend!

Thanks TheKiltedWonder, We have also posted a second picture (SWK Weathered Lamont)from this Christmas eve in this thread: see post #10. This is an old picture, and I'll tell the story here as I edit this post.
I had just gotten that wonderful box (we all know) that comes from SWK at the post office on the way to ceramics. As I walked out of the restroom at the studio after putting on this kilt, my friend wanted a picture. My friend, Sylvana, is the lady with me. She works with me on some of my sculptures. The basting stiches are still in the kilt when this picture was taken.
** I should say that this is the first kilt that I bought, and I picked it for the tartan,. Kind of a first splash, and... probably the only acrylic kilt I will get.
** The leather vest is from Ireland. My mother bought it for me when she lived there a short time in the nineties. The kilt is a SWK Nightstalker (standard) with the SWK belt, sword kilt pin, and econimy sporran.
Review
The standard SWK Nightstalker is made from an acrylic fabric, I don't know the weight, but it is lighter than the wool. The acrylic has a much smoother texture which isn't a problem, but I worry about fuzz developing and also that it will be snagged easily. I don't wear it too often for that reason. The hang and swing and all that isn't as good as wool, but that fabric has a soft comfortable feel to it that reminds me of some kinds of acrylic sweaters. I don't know that that is good or bad on a kilt, but that softness is the one thing I like about the acrylic... Kind of a smoking jacket feel to it or something like that that I just can't put my finger on.
The SWK Weathered 1/2 Lamont 13 Oz wool heavyweight kilt (shown in post #10) really does hang and swing better. wool has a texture and feel like no other fabric. I haven't gotten around to correcting the SWK first pleat/apron taper issue, but it isn't too bad.
I don't see how the two fabrics can be compared, there's too big a difference. I try not to think of them as the same kind of kilt, or use them in the same way. That being said, I would be happy if SWK would start making the Nightstalker in the heavyweight wool again.
** I'll bring this up here to this post too. Thanks McMurdo for pointing out the wrong placement of the flashes. No one had ever said anything about that, but I will correct that placement now.
** I was reminded by a post below that Sylvana is the person who first told me to start wearing a kilt. That was back in 2003 I think. She had a Ren/Medieval wedding where many of the people were wearing belted plaids. I was dressed in a tunic as a grizzled hermit though. I got to stab the rosted pig to begin "The Feast of Gluttony."
** Riverkilt! Stop looking at Sylvana, LOL LOL!
Thanks to all of you for your comments. I feel so... looked at now, LOL!

Ted that looks pretty good, the only thing I have to say is that the flashes should both go on the outside of your legs, it looks like you have one on the inside of your leg.

Ok, thanks. It wouldn't surprise me if I've got some stuff wrong. I have been wearing them all along that way and nobody ever said anything. LOL! Kind of glad you brought that up because they get in the way on the inside just a little. Thanks.
** Funny how things become clear in your mind when you figure it out because that had been bothering me, now the flashes make a lot more sense, te he.

Just between you and me, McMurdo, I hardly ever wear flashes. I'm usually in a solid color BK with scrunchy hose... I'm just not a formal dresser. LOL! But I do welcome any corrections. Um, I didn't have a tie with me at the time, but the vest and open butten shirt is kind of a little westernish to me, and I almost like it.

And back by popular demand:
I don't wanna steal his thunder, so I'll let him talk about the kilt, tartan and outfit.
It looks sharp though!
