The irony! Tis the very forum from which I got interested in kilts. I've been a member at SRP and straight shaver for about a year and a half. There was a thread over there started on kilts that created the first sparks of interest for me. As for straight shaving, I'll never give it up for as long as I am able! However, for one who is blind, I am curious about the details of this razor. Course blindness has its benefits, in that I do not succumb to razor porn.

<wince> I agree with everything save for the ninty degrees part. One would do better at about thirty degrees.

Nice purchase!

Mind you, I never took a protractor to my face, so you could be right. The trick is holding the razor, and as you can see from my face, I haven't done that in a long time!
But once learned, shaving with a straight razor is a joy and pleasure. The shaving cup, brush, lather, etc etc - - ALMOST makes me want to shave again - NOT!

Very cool razor. I've been toying with the idea of a straight razor myself, but I haven't yet gotten up the courage to really give it a whirl. Seems like you could do a better job of close trimming around facial hair . . . or cutting your throat!
I am old anough to remember slicing up myself with the old safety razors.

That razor is gorgeous!
I started to straight razor shave in July after buying a starter set for my birthday. I used to hate shaving. Now I love it. It's much easier than one would think if you're willing to accept that you're going to get cut here and there when you first start.
I believe it was a post by Nick in MN (or is it MI) a while back that first got me interested in the art of shaving. I'm glad I took the plunge.
And so is my wife, who hates it when I don't shave.

C'mon in, the water's fine. I've done a lot of funerals and have never seen a Brink's truck in any of them. You might as well enjoy spending it whilst you can.

You'll find me as Mike54, over on that one. I've not been there long, just long enough to be bitten by the bug. Another fairly new member over there is Magnus and if you look around here, you'll pick up his tracks.
Are you using Toddo over on SRP, as well?
The razor arrived and (if possible) the pictures did it no justice. It is a work of art. And, of course, you know what that means. Yessir, I'm quite shamelessly begging and pleading with Bill Ellis to restore something up for everyday use. Not the full Ellis custom deal, just something simple and solid.
However, for one who is blind, I am curious about the details of this razor. Course blindness has its benefits, in that I do not succumb to razor porn.
Trust me, if you had seen this one, you would have likely beat me to it. A mirrored, hollow ground blade, with Souvenir of Frankfurt A/M bannered around an eagle crest. Beautiful burgundy scales with a couple of gold bands and a gold inlay of a bagpiper between them. It's gorgeous, but it's going to be a display razor, as it's too good to risk in daily use.
For those that might be wondering who Bill Ellis is, or what one of his customs is like, click on the attached thumbnails. Don't drool on yourselves. And yes, that is a gemstone, inset in the blade.

Wow! Thanks for the description. How cool is that, finding a piper on the scales like that, no wonder you snatched it up. I had to call my S.O. in to see it after reading the description. Yes, I am Toddo there too as well, though not a big poster here or there. I to have an Ellis everyday workhorse, not a custom job. I've spent no money on fancy blades but you are right, might of caved after all to the piper, congrats.
