WPG Seaforth Highlanders/MacKenzie review
I received a WPG Cameron kilt for Christmas but it was way too long for me. So I called Jerry up at WPG and asked about available stock and he told me that he had a MacKenzie in 44x23. I said done and arranged for an exchange. They are super to deal with and were very accomodating even during the retail madness of the holidays. Cudos to the guys at WPG. They sent the new kilt out but I was not sure when it would arrive here. Anyways I was waiting for a shipment of some Maduro cigars from Nicaragua to arrive on Tuesday this week. When the UPS guy arrived he handed me two packages and I dashed inside to see what I got. One was the new kilt and the other was the cigars, and the cigars had to wait until I got to see my new "Beast" up close and personal.
Three sets of basting stitches line the pleats which are in the military box pleat set up and the thing weighed a ton. The wool is tad scratchier than my other kilts but when I took it out last night for a walk, you could not tell. It was warm as heck and felt good as I trudged through the snow. The infamous buckles are just that, but I'll deal with them during the summer. They are functional, take a while to get used to, but the leather will soften up with use ( and I plan on using this puppy quite a lot).
The colors are somewhat muted inside but when outside they perk up a lot and the true colors of the kilt shine, and it was quite warm at 11 degrees last night when I took Indy out for a walk. The material will relax with wear and hang better after a couple of times out. So far I am very happy not only with this "Beast" but also with Jerry and the folks at WPG. More as I get used to the feeling of "The Beast".

Nice review, I can not wait for mine to arrive, these seem to be just the kilt for us husky owners, I'm sure the extra warmth makes your walks a bit more enjoyable.

On a day like that one you do need the 'beast'. You look warm and toasty in it. Congrats on your new kilt. It fits you to a T!

Infamous buckles? Is there something wrong with the buckles?

Most folks who buy these kilts say the straps and buckles are pretty cheap. You may not have followed the What Price Glory threads. These are reproductions of WWI 22 oz regimental kilts. They are made expressly for WPG in Pakistan, but to a very high standard except, apparently, for the straps and buckles.
WPG carries Seaforth Mackenzie, Camerons, Gordons, and Black Watch. They sell for around $295 to $315.

Yeah, Topp, they suck.
But the kilt is a great buy, and I'm glad you like yours as much as I like my Gordon. I'm probably going to pop for a MacKenzie soon since it's such a good deal.
Guys, these are really great kilts, and Jerry is a really fine person to deal with. He even waved me off a purchase once because he was pretty sure it wouldn't fit me properly.

WPG klit review

These certainly are kilts for Husky owners. In one of the shots I took of the basting stitches there were several of Indy's hairs on the new kilt. Like I said, I think that I have her trained because when I put one of my kilts on at night or when I get home, she starts talkin figuring I'm going to take her for a "you know what".
