Its YOUR wedding too. Should not the groom invest as much in his attire as the bride? Don't want it to look as if the elegant princess is marrying a pauper.

Choose your tartan, then hook up with Barb Tewksbury or Kathy Lare. They'll find your cloth for you and hand sew you a kilt you'll treasure all your life and pass on to your sons and grandsons. You'll stand tall. Most importantly you'll have a personal relationship with your kiltmaker that will tailor the kilt for you alone. And, the kiltmaker will know your wedding date and meet it.

Great fears about trusting the word of a company that has kilts made by anonymous kiltmakers to meet your wedding date. Too many tales of horror about that on this forum.

If you really are too poor to have a hand sewn kilt made up then USA Kilts semi-traditional is an option. You can trust Rocky to sew up a fine PV kilt for you.

But hey, if your wedding isn't the time to go top of the line - nothing else is.

I wore a belted plaid (Great Kilt) in our wedding. The plaid will be much less expensive than a tailored kilt. My groomsmen whom I called my chosen men help wrap me up on the wedding day. It was a blast! A thought for you.

Riverkilt is right that there's nothing like a handsewn wool kilt. Unfortunately, young Erikm said he's on a budget. Unless that budget includes $500 or more for the kilt, let alone everything else he needs, that's just not the answer.

I paid more for my wedding outfit than my wife paid for hers.

Pretty much a personal choice. Sad sometimes that budgets limit such an event.

If the means are there, one will never regret doing it the way they envision.

Matt Newsome should really be included in this statement. Matt provides excellent customer service, a personal relationship with his customers, and a quality hierloom garment.

Didn't mean to slight Matt, was supplementing Coemgen, who mentioned Matt, but said he had forgotten others. Shoulda been more clear like, less muddled....Just wanted to be sure Barb and Kathy were on the list.

You know, now that I think about it, I hope the way opens for you to get exactly the tartan you want in a high quality wool that will please you, and made by an expert kilt maker. It could happen, and good luck.

Seriously...Ted C speaks with un-forked tongue. One of the issues that my wife and I have is when I buy something that's a budget version and then after using it for a while see that I should have gone ahead and spent the extra money to get the "good one". Of course I find an excuse to then buy the "good one" and am sitting there with both the budget model and the "good one" with my wife telling me that she doesn't understand why I do this all the time. Of course, had I spent the money on the "good" one up front, she would be asking how I could spend so much money on something without knowing whether or not it would work or I would actually like it.

Catch 22: If your sane enough to say that you're too crazy to fly, then you're sane enough to fly.

Speaking as a married man, blow the wad and get the good one now...trust me, you'll find plenty of occasions to wear it in the future...kilt nights, highland games, evenings at the theatre...but it might be your last chance to - how shall we say - spend money on an "un-approved" item before you enter the blissful arms of matrimony.
