Thumbs up My Tewksbury has arrived

This morning the postman arrived with the long waited package.
I am now the proud owner of a handsewn Barb Tewksbury kilt. It's stunning! Everything a kilt should be and make you feel! Special!
If what I'm told is true this is the only kilt done in this tartan in North America. It has been recently released. The Dutch Friendship Tartan.

Last Year when I was in Holland, a few booths away from me and Robin (of Kilt goodies fame) I met the woman who was selling this tartan. Not particular fond of the 2 other Dutch tartans on offer. But I discovered this one. A muted orange and green with a touch of blue and lavender.
I had negotiated a deal for a DFT kilt but it fell through. Last December Robin was able to secure some yardage. I then contacted Barb to see if she would be interested in making me a kilt. No problems, she had a slot in January. When the goods came to me I sent them on down to her.
Thanks Barb for a great experience. A number of emails went back and forth to confirm my wishes and discuss her suggestions which of course were bang on.
I tell you, if you can have the discipline to save up for a true wool tartan hand made kilt you will not be disappointed.
As a kilt maker I have been approached a number of times to sell south Asian kilts. I have received samples. When you put them side by side you can really tell the difference!
It's been five years since I made my last tartan kilt. 8 since I bought my last one. This has been well worth the wait. Oops I almost forgot, I did receive another fine quality wool tweed kilt from Rocky. I enjoy that one very much.
I have a new kilt for this weekends Burns supper and Celtic concert.

So with tripod and an available room, and everyone out of the house, we begin with the dogs and get them out of the way and then a few shots

Then of course the front and back, also showing off the celtic embossed kilt belt as well as the new improved Tasmanian Devil sporran (more about that later) Unfortunately you can't see the wonderful tulip kilt pin Robin made for me. I will fix that later

And finally a shot with the corner chair

You are sooo right about the wonder of a wool hand sewn kilt...

Thanks for the pics. I have a Dutch line myself I've thought of honoring and here's another option...there are few.

Now, if you can just get Barb, or her husband, into an RKilt...
