US Custom form?
Hey guys.
I just(3 months ago) ordered my first kilt through kiltstore and it has arrived(in Memphis) and now I've been sent an email from FedEx:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
"Mr. Godfrey,
I am attempting to clear through customs a shipment you have coming in from SCOTWEB MARKETING LTD in Great Britain. There is an US Custom form required to clear your shipment through
customs for personal use shipments. I have attached the required form to this email.
We have called the number on the invoice several times with no success.
Please complete this form and return as soon as possible to avoid any further delays in your shipment.
If you have any questions, please give me a call.
Thank you."
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
So, I look at the attached document:
U.S. DEPARTMENT OF HOMELAND SECURITY Bureau of Customs and Border(Of course DOHS! is in all CAPS). It's titled:"Importer ID Input Record". I didn't realize I was an importer. Nor did I realize that to receive my purchased goods
I was supposed to know my I.R.S. number, CPB number, or what DIV/AKA/DBA was.
Being a GOVERNMENT DOCUMENT it asks me for all types of info that I don't have.
It also says "See back of form for Paperwork Reduction Act Notice."...classic!
Any advice with this would be greatly appreciated.

I would not respond to that e-mail, other than to ask for a phone number. Then I would start the process of calling people, untill you get the answers you need.

I would hate to think what the paperwork must have been like before the Reduction Act was passed!

Well I just called and was received by a very nice and cute sounding FedEx international rep who said that she would leave, for the rep who is handling my package in Memphis, a message to call me in the morning. We'll see how that turns out.
But, I must say, I am tempted to call back tonight. ;)

Yeah, I bet they bill for every service they perform under contract for a taxpayer funded government.
Sad thing is I'm from Little Rock and my uncle negotiated a courier buyout with Fred Smith in the early 80's.

Should never have it sent Fed Expensive. Next time send it royal mail. Sorry you had to learn to late.
Wonder if you can tell them to send it back. Double Postage might be cheaper than their trumped up charges.
