Ahh, the joys of being a bachelor... I can get kilt-checked several times a night in a pub, and don't have to answer to a significant other! ;-)

I agree with the above, that you handled the situation lightly.

I try to turn negative comments into jokes, but with some people I just accept their ignorance and continue about my life. I think it is said in So You're Going to Wear the Kilt that people can only make fun of you if you let them.

Yeah, I'm glad you didn't hurt anybody. The only time I've hit anybody was when they tried to lift my kilt.

But even with the morons in full force that night, isn't it nice to get positive attention? I agree that sometimes you just want to be left alone, but you kinda have to expect people commenting on it.

I had a guy at a bar in Houston that kept trying to lift the kilt and my wife said "Stop-- We don't swing that way." All his friends just started laughing and he left and then came back , apologized and bought us a round. Turned out to be a fun night.

If at all possible try not to hit some one even if you win you can still lose (Bruised hand).

Actually, I think you did teach a lot of people a lesson here. Sounds like a lot of fun, otherwise.

    Peace.
Last time that happened to me, I responded "Intelligent men call it a kilt!"

I completely agree. Ever since I started wearing the kilt, I have found myself sharpening my whole image. I actually own two ties now! That I wear the kilt is no surprise to any of my friends- that I occasionally wear a tie now is.

Or you could have turned to him and just as loudly said, "So where is your skirt?" Since he said, real men wear a skirt.

    Beautiful one Dale

I'll have to remember that one.... I'm a high school youth leader at my church, and after I receive my new kilt I plan to wear it on occassion there. I know also I'll have to brace myself for some serious ribbing from some of the guys & even co-leaders (all who are half my age)

I also wish to commend you DireStraitsFan on holding your head high
