but for me that is English - just about - so I know my turnips from my spuds.

I think my favourite 'Northern' term is nichchem - I think that is how it might be spelt - meaning brainless. The first ch as in loch, the second is pronounced as k as it is the same derivation as chemistry.

A chem, as legend would have it, is the writing - or inscribing - put into the head of a golem to make it active.

Call me a Gowk! 7 outta 10 but all a guess all except Sleekit. I knew this one as we had a couple of kilt nights at the now defunct Sleekit Badger in Dunnville.

I hardly believe this: 9 of 10 correct, and only two of the ten had I ever encountered before. If I had guessed that well in thermodynamics I'd have pulled an "A" instead of a "D".
