Having now seen the kilt in daylight I think I’ll dub it the “Bright Skye”. Aurora borealis.
Perhaps best worn in candlelight or campfire light

I agree. Or in a room with th elights turned off. Sorry, Larry, but I think Frugal should have done a visual comparison of swatches before commissioning those kilts. If the mill followed the sett pattern correctly, I guess they can sell it as the Isle of Skye. But IIRC, FC started down this path after seeing how popular the tartan is on X-Marks, and I don't think they'll get as many takers for this as they might have otherwise if they reproduced the colors faithfully.

The original IOS designer's going to have a cow when she/he sees this version. I would. Even if I was getting royalties.

See, it does look nice, but it is quite bright indeed.
I kinda think the regular IOS is pretty bright, though.

I don't know what that is but it is most certainly NOT Isle of Skye.

Intense is a word I'd use to descibe it. I'm hoping CCK's IoS is not so intense.

I'll be completely honest and say that I'm glad this acrylic version is so far off.

I don't know, Ron. It's the same pattern, and the same colors (generally speaking), just the hues are way off. In other words, it really is the same tartan, just not done near as well. It seems to me that it's enough the same to still be a violation of copyright, but different enough that those who are attracted to the Isle of Skye colors in wool won't be as interested in this knock off version.

That's quiet a kilt! Very bright, but I personally prefer dark tartans.

Remember when all of the Pakistani mills were making the Irish National in Acrylic? Remember how BRIGHT the green was? Eventually, HOE (the copyright holder for Irish National) went after the resellers (and the mills, but that was harder to do as they are in Pakistan) and they had to stop carrying the kilts. Eventually the orders dried up for Irish National at the Pakistani mills and they stopped making it (except for Jerry at SWK who entered into an agreement with HOE to carry it if the colors were changed to ACCURATELY REFLECT the tartan).

I have a dozen swatches of Pakistan wool and acrylic here in our shop to show customers who are curious about different fabrics and the differences between the fabrcs. All of the colors tend to be VERY "intense".

If the intense coloration is seen in both the wool and acrylic coming out of Pakistan, then maybe it's simply a reflection of different fashion preferences in the west and in the east. It could be that such bright and vivid colors are attractive to the Pakistani but not so much to us westerners. Much the same way that Coca-Cola made for sale in Africa is entirely different than Coke made for sale in the US. Different cultures, different tastes.
