Don't know about cats

but I've known of owners of Alaskan Malamutes who collect the shed hair, spin it & make sweaters out of it.

Alan, String did just fine with the shock...I reckon. I hadn't gotten to this post until yesterday, but I am now understanding as to why she was wandering about all weekend, staring blankly into space, muttering "fleece...sheeps...fleece...WOOL!"

As for the other random animal fiber...all I foresee is a large amount of strange feeling sweaters and hats in my future... O_o

No cat hair, tis a rule, I don't care for cats even when they don't shed.

I am just worried about having tons of raw wool when I don't even have much of a sink around here, not to mention the smell of wet wool for my roommates to enjoy.

Don't laugh. I actually saw a woman spinning rabbit hair at the state fair. It was so funny. The rabbit was sitting next to her and as she spun, she would reach down and gently pull a few hairs off the rabbit, and spin the hair into thread.
