Gardening in a Kilt (Buzz Kidder Canvas)

It just keeps raining out there...! All I know is that I didn't do anything to cause it, LOL! I'm thinking I might go dig up some of the bonsai out there after this is over. The ground is buttery soft, and water is starting to build up. Guess I aught to sharpen up the shovel.

A few years back, we had a very rainy winter and some of the nursery guys said they were seeing native plants coming up that they had never seen growing in their life time out here... It happens. Those cacti will be getting fat too.

Anyhow, I'm thinking about making a kilt for a scarecrow. There's a crow that hangs out in my fifty foot palm tree and likes to look down on the scarecrow in my frontyard. That'll give him something to look at, LOL!

Now here is England suspenders are what the ladies use to hold up their stockings (pre universal trousers era), so this conjours up an interesting sort of image! ;-)

Kilting in the garden? I have been doing this for years. I bought a cheap all black kilt from eBay that I can put through the washer when it gets muddy. It also doesn't matter too much if it gets attacked by prickles, etc. Like others I use a foam kneeling pad, but I'd need to do that whatever I wore. Pair of wellingtons and a T shirt and I'm set.

[As our back garden is totally secluded, then when it gets really hot, off comes the kilt and all. Now that's really gardening! (Cold beer to hand in the garage). But that's another tale altogether]

I'll give Moosedog a chance to respond about the stocking suspenders before I say anything. Gardening in fishnets?

OK, Ok, braces, I guess I should have specified? or the neighbors would be getting an interesting show.

Actually I do occasionally wear braces kilted when I have a cargo kilt or work apron on and don't want to spare a hand hitching everything up--although as Ted observed a kilt require much less attention than a pair of p***s that seem to always be falling down a bit. Duluth Trading Company makes some that clip to the side and are eminently comfortable and practical.

Thanks Moosedog, LOL! As far as I know, men used to wear sock suspenders or garters in America... not sure what the big deal is. Don't we all wear garters with our kilt hose too? It's just sillyness... I do hear the things that go over your shoulders and clip to the waistband called suspenders all the time though.

Anything goes in the American language, but be careful we'll steal your words and twist them in horrible ways.

Yes String, I have heard that quote. I was talking to someone from England about marmalade in a different thread today. "Marrow" jam was brought up, and my first thought was eeoouu, those savage Brits..., then I realised that it was vegetable marrow like a squash, LOL!

Eh ya. That was the first thing that popped into my mind. Not a nice thought, bone marrow marmalade... Kind of had to look at that a couple of times to see what we were talking about.
