One of the handiest things for my sporran is a little pouch I found at a Totes outlet.
It is about 7 inches wide, 5.5 inches tall and about 1.75 inches wide. The front and back have two pockets 3 inches wide and about 2 inch at the mouth. The inter pocket is divided in two. You can fill it up and move it between sporrans.
Wallet
two sets of key - my wife never carries keys to her car if I'm driving so I have to carry two sets.
knife
book
PDA
medication
money clip

Here it is closed with a Black Watch flap (it has a plain black one as well)

[quote=Riverkilt;481867]Thanks for the creative and inventive spirit...
For this old pot bellied geezer the key is can I work it with one hand and find what I need? Can I get my hand inside to take out what I need?
What drives me crazy are all the closure mechanisms...I'm hopeless with he little magnetic snap catches. I struggle with drawstrings and things I need to loop over the button and pull tight because for me I'm doing it all upside down and having to peer out over my paunch to see what I'm doing.
There's something about my aging ego that wants to be able to "drive" a sporran closure without having to stop everything, bend my head over like a penguin, and open or close the flap."
Exactly the basis of all of this! Wearing the kilt is one thing, but having to fiddle around searching for things in the "purse" draws far more attention in a checkout line. Hence, my interest in what should go into the sporran, how big is optimal, whether there should be easy entry compartments, and MAYBE, whether some of the wealth should be distributed elsewhere for quicker and easier access.

I don't have a sporran, but I always have a few items with me.
Keys
Phone
Wallet or student ID (gets me in my cafeteria)
inhaler
Camera (always always always if i am going further than the cafeteria)
lipstick (this would be a good time to point out that string isn't male)
pen
Now, I typically have my knitting bag on me too, or my knitting in my backpack for class. But if I step out my door I must have the first 3 items at the very least, and I am supposed to have the 4th one too. That's the bare minimum.
