Good move to move on. My two favorite Rural Metro stories are from up in Phoenix.
They lost a swimming pool in a fire in Paradise Valley. Apparently a grass fire burned uphill to some creosote soaked railroad ties that were an artificial embankment to hold a fiberglass swimming pool on some rich guys hillside. When the railroad ties burned through the weight of the water in the fiberglass pool sent the shell sliding down the burnt out hillside.
And of course the infamous deal where the Burger Whop across Scottsdale Road from a Rural Metro station burned down because they wouldn't fight the fire since it was on the Phoenix side of the street.
Or maybe its just urban ledgend that I'm irresponsibly passing on.
Have helped RM fight brush fires when the first truck shows up and there's only one guy on it, the driver. They count on civilians to help drag hose for them...
Anyhow, think I know the town you mean and if I'm right I'm sure they'll hire quality guys like you and reward you well. I suspect you'll earn your pay though.
