I purchased a Crail and a Braemer from them. I thought extremely good value and they shipped Royal mail. All the best.

Well, when I paid the vendor, I got a message saying that my jacket and waistcoat would be sent out the following day... Here it is, a week later, and after a few messages sent to the vendor, and a couple of responses apologizing for the shipping delays, they have finally shipped, with the assurance that my package should arrive before my event on the 16th.

Pics and a review to come once I get my new jacket.

I am a kilt newbie of Scots-Irish West Virginia hillbilly descent and after a great deal of research and price comparison (after all I am of scottish descent and therefore, uhhh, let's just say thrifty) I bought my whole Argyll/vest semi-dress kilt set plus another tweed jacket and vest, along with all the accoutrements----balmoral, 2 sporrans, ghillies, hose and flashes, clan crest items where available----basically everything but a dress shirt and a sgian dhub---all from Higgins. I ordered it between xmas and new years and except for the tweed jacket and vest got the whole kit in under a month. And I love it all---perfect fit (and I am not a standard size----52XL jacket and 48/50/26 kilt, being 6'5" and 275 lb), clean lines and seams, quality workmanship, and all the jackets and kilt were made here in the US from scottish origin fabrics. All the other paraphernalia was also of scottish origin as best I can tell. Prices were comparable if not better than even the scottish volume sellers online, and best of all for us US folks is that there is no tax OR customs charges. Very easy to deal with and took care of everything either by email or phone with no problems. I will definitely deal with them again when I am ready to expand my wardrobe.

I don't know about jackets, but my pipe band buys all their stuff from J. Higgins. Quality stuff.

I'd probably get more use out of an Argyll or something similar as opposed to a PC.

I have about 3-4 weeks to get a jacket and waistcoat, and probably no more than $150 US or so to spend.

The only tartans I have (for now) are Black Watch and Campbell of Argyll, so I'm thinking that charcoal or black would look best. Navy blue or another dark blu would probably work too.

Do any of you know where I can get a jacket cheap and quick, or have a jacket in a size 38 chest that you'd be willing to part with?
We went to a tuxedo rental shop and bought a black tuxedo jacket for $5.00, modified it and sewed buttons on in the right places. Worked perfectlyfor a Charles jacket!! We bought wellie socks and they are perfect too!

Well, I got a notice yesterday that delivery was attempted, and that they will try to redeliver today... I hope my wife gets up in time...

Oh, and delivery on this end was handled by the USPS. Does this mean I escaped the dreaded fees that others charge?

I'd recommend finding a shop that rents the jackets. A google search should be productive.

I got my jacket and waistcoat today, so I'm all set for next week.

Thanks for all your suggestions, everyone.
