String, desert plants are extremely boring and dry, LOL. Well, I've done a lot of study and research into cacti and succulents over the last eight years. I've also studied medicinal plants of the desert southwest, but it has all been personal study and research, not at a university... The biggest part has been compiling an easily usable data base: again for personal use.

    * To explain a little, I had a feeling that I should look into these things. I let my intuition guide me. I've spent endless hours of looking at information on plants and related information. I have kept notes or if on the internet, html copies of everything I have researched. I did learn research skills at the univercity, and basics of biology and so on. That helps a lot.

I tried to ask my inner curmudgeon before posting, but he sprayed me with the garden hose…

the best learning is that you study yourself, for yourself, and in your own interests. The university has it's place, but all the information that is really important you don't gain in lecture.

Think I'll work on the bonsai in the morning. I have several that need to be dug, and it's a good time to prune the figs. I aught to take cuttings of the figs and grapes to start a bunch of new ones...
