Red face picture of "highland gathering tartan"?

    Hi there,
I wee bit off topic. I desperatly search for a picture of the Tartan "Highland Gathering" that was registered some years ago only by Gibbs of Inverurie. The reason is it will be out wedding Tartan and other colours have to be matched with it.

Just a brief describtion, it is an Aberdeenshire district tartan a grey/blue granite like small check with fine lines in red (for Aberdeen), gold (for Whisky), blue (for the sea) and white (to make it dress).

If you could point me towards a reasonably true to colour picture of it on the net it would be grand.

    Thank s in advance,
    Suse

Thank you, but that isn't it. I know the tartan is registered with the authority but I seem to be unable to find it anywhere. Arghhhh, even the designers webpage doesn't feature it. Thank you for the help though :-)

Can the manufacturer send you a sample swatch? That would make it much easier to match colors for your wedding. For one, you'd be able to look at the actual true colors, as opposed to a photo on a computer screen, which is not always accurate. For another, you can stuff it in your purse and take it out with you when you are doing your wedding shopping!

I just went to the STA and typed in "Highland" into the search, here is the link no Highland Gathering was listed, however one of these might be the tartan you are looking for.

No it isn't, however it maybe a newer Tartan then we realized. His last design (Highland Granite) is listed on the page. We picked a non Clan tartan to avoid tension at the wedding, and because we thought the tartan looked rather smart.

Well, the kilt shop is just across the road from where much of the other things will come from. I have a reasonably good reproduction of the colours on his brochure. I do not think however the kilts are made just there.

If all fails I'll borrow a kilt in the tartan and take it with me ;-) Thanks for the suggestion.

That's interesting. Highland Granite is sold by Lochcarron. I have a kilt in it, and I love the tartan. Will this Highland Gathering tartan also be offered through them, I wonder?

I am really taking a wild guess here, but I think it might. The chap that designed them is a real traditional Kiltmaker from Aberdeenshire who has a Kilt shop in the Garioch.
He made the Highland gathering with the area/whisky industry in mind (Speyside is just up the road :-)). If Locharron weaves it I can very well see them sellin git as well at some point. I can ask next time I go into the shop if you like.
