Dinner: Impossible
For you Food Network fans, the new season of Dinner: Impossible includes an episode where Super-Chef Robert Irvine prepares a gourmet meal for 850 Marines in the January 23, 24 and Feb 2 airings of the "Boot Camp" episode.
The previews show him wearing what looks like a Royal Stewart tartan kilt while doing his usual "frantic, exasperated, everything's gone wrong and I gotta get it done on time" bit.
The show is worth watching if for no other reason than to learn what can be done with limited time and resources when a person is skilled, focused, organized and creative.

Oh wow, cool! I remember when he did a colonial dinner in my backyard. Ok, so I didn't actually see him, but I saw the episode. Did he used to cook for the Queen, or am I remembering wrong? Is that why he wears the Royal Stewart tartan? Or does he want to match his boxers/throw rug/golf bag/pipebag/etc... (I do like the tartan, but its slightly ubiquitous)

He's cooked for anyone who's anyone, including the Royals -- and, one of the selling points of his show, he often puts out his best for hard-working ordinary folks.

That's what I thought. It's just weird for me to watch. He looks just like a friend of mine. And acts kinda similar, in that my friend is very orderly and likes things a certain way. I'm just afraid of confusing the two...
He does seem to make delicious food, near as I can tell. He could cook for me any day.

Well, someone said this episode was at a Rennaisance Faire. Whoever said that was correct. The preview was confusing, mixing scenes from several episodes -- both old and new. I'm un-confused now.

This aired last Wednesday (Jan 30) at 10PM. Robert thought the idea was a bit funny but wore it well. I believe it was a fèileadh beag or single width without sewn in pleats. Looked like it might have been Royal Stewart, not sure though. He really went right into the cooking and didn't make a big deal about wearing it. I think that was one of the best things he could do. Just wear it well.
