Super Tuesday - 2 votes for the kilt!
I live in one of the 20+ states that are having their presidential primary today (Super Tuesday). So, doing my citizen's duty, I stopped in at my polling station at lunchtime to vote. Now, I'm wearing my olive green Original Utilikilt & a casual, button-down Cotton/Hemp shirt, slouch sox & Doc Martens - nothing fancy, just pretty typical stuff for me to wear to work. As I was on my way out after I'd slid my ballot into the box, one of the lady volunteers working at the polling station loudly called out, "I really like your outfit," to which a younger gal waiting in line affirmed, "And so do I!"
Yep, the early returns are indicating that a man in a kilt is a winner!

Happiness? I'd settle for being less annoyed!!!

hmmm. I wonder if we could get any of the candidates into a kilt...Can you imagine an inaugural address or a formal function at the White House with a Presidential kilt? The mind boggles.

I had a similar experience here. Going to my polling place a lady in the parking lot stated that she really liked my kilt, which naturally led to a conversation about where I got it, if I'm scottish, etc... I wound up telling her about the upcoming Queen Mary games in two weeks and the Irish Festival after that. She had been to Scotland, Ireland, and Wales many years ago and was looking forward to reliving some of the memories.

You might say it was your "primary" style of dress
Sorry I was surprised that there was no pun there so I jumped in

Forgive my ignorance about the American political machine but what are you voting on in the primaries? Are you choosing whom you want to represent both parties? Or are is it an internal vote of a member of his chosen party? Also do you wear the kilt to distract as you surreptitiously stuff the ballot box?

In Arizona, it's voting for the candidate in whichever political party you're registered with (Democratic or Republican - independent voters cannot vote in our primary) that you want to represent your party for President in the general election in November.
In Arizona, the Republican party has a "winner-takes-all" system, so that the Republican candidate that gets the most votes wins all 53 Arizona delegates to the Republican National Convention this summer where the candidate with a majority of the delegate votes (1,034 out of 2,066) will be the Republican nominee for the general election.
Not surprisingly, the Democratic party does things differently. Democrats use a mixture of voting results to apportion delegates. More than half of the delegates, 37 of 67, are awarded based on results in each congressional district, and 19 are awarded based on the statewide vote. The remaining 11 are "superdelegates," various Democratic leaders who can vote as they please. These state delegates then vote for their candidate at the Democratic National Convention where 2,170 votes are needed out of 4,338 to become the Democratic nominee.
Clear as mud?
And don't even get me started on the Electoral College...
