During the warm weather I rely on my USA Kilts semi-traditional kilt for SCD.

It has served me in good stead. During the cooler more civilized weather I wear a variety of different kilts in the 13-16 oz. range.

    Cheers

I never have trouble getting partners, and whenever I'm kilted, I find that they are all the more enthusiastic!
The most recent ball I attended, I wore my 13oz. 7yd. wool, and found it a bit warm--but well worth it for the effect.
I'm amused at the thought of attending English country dancing in a Scottish kilt. The traditionalists would choke on their tea! It reminds me of the time I attended the English bowls championships wearing a tartan tie. A Scotsman came up and laughed in my face. God knows what he would have done if I'd been wearing my kilt !
Seriously though, as for dancing in a kilt I would go along with wearing a 'casual' kilt for practice and a real kilt for the serious business. JUST DON'T WEAR TROOSERS !
Thinking about it I remember once attending an event at the Parish church in Leamington Spa where the local English Country Dance group were due to perform. They were actually joined by members of the local R.S.C.D.S. in full Highland attire and I'm sure they all danced together. It was a wonderful sight which I'd all but forgotten about until this posting.
