Be warned! Once you start wearing shirts with French Cuffs it is hard to go back!

Thanks Rex, best of wishes to all.

What a funny thread. When I was in Hyderabad I had 11 shirts tailored for me and each of them had the French cuff on them. I wound up buying close to a dozen different cuff links to wear with them. I love the look of the cuff and the extra comfort of the shirt with the cuff link.
"A veteran, whether active duty, retired, national guard or reserve, is someone who, at one point in his life, wrote a blank check made payable to "The United States of America", for an amount of "up to and including my life." That is honor, and there are way too many people in this country who no longer understand it." anon

French cuffs aren't just for formal wear anymore. You can dress up jeans by wearing french cuff shirts with cufflinks. You can add a sport coat or even a suit coat to your jeans and french cuff shirt to make a slightly more formal, yet casual and comfortable outfit.
If you tend toward the foppish, you can wear your french cuff shirts without cufflinks and unfolded, although I find that an unreasonable infringement on practicality. One would have to keep flipping the extra cuff fabric out of the way to do anything with one's hands.

You certainly don't have to wear French cuffs if you don't want to. I never do wear them in my daily wear.
However, when you're dressing up they're really nice. And if you're going formal, one just doesn't seem quite completely dressed without them. Besides, cufflinks are one of the few pieces of bling that us guys get to wear regularly.
