Xmarks Tartan Pleated to the yellow stripe
Hi All,
Need some help with determining the best way to pleat the Xmarks tartan to the yellow stripe.
Does anyone have some examples they can post?
I am concerned that the grey next to the blue/yellow/blue stripe will dissapear as I taper to the waist.
The grey next to the blue will be showing at the hips but will disappear near the top of the kilt because of the taper. If you look closely at the picture below, you can see the grey by the bottom pins and only blue at the top of the kilt.
Any suggestions?

My grey stripes become a little less than a single width at the waist. You should be able to see it in my xmts kilt post.

What was your pleat width at the waist and hips?

I tried pleating to the yellow stripe once and then ripped it out because it was too bright for my old eyes.
Put the yellow down the center and let the Grey just disappear. It was the only way I could come up with.
Here are some other choices.

From L to R To the Sett, To the Gray Stripe, To no Stripe, To the Yellow Stripe, To the White Stripe.

Mine is pleated to the yellow stripe (by our own very talented way2fractious!)
Here is a thread with a few pictures of my military box pleat XMTS tartan kilt

Pleating to the yellow stripe actually makes the back of an XMTS tartan kilt far more subtle looking than the front, which is something of a reverse to other pleated to stripe kilts.

Incredibly I don't have a picture of my XMTS by Freedom Kilts that shows the pleats well. I'll be up to the (southern) Redhead's house tomorrow and I'll shoot it then (she does a good job of dry cleaning and pressing, knows how to cook too !).
Here is the X Kilt I made for the wondrous Debra:
