    Thank you. I just picked up a Montrose doublet on eBay and rather lucked out as it fits perfectly.

    I agree that the frills are part of the whole thing. Anyway, this is a very formal jacket: Weddings, visits from the Queen, and so on.

    You can go with other less frilly choices for other occasions, such as the Argyll and Prince Charlie Coat.

    On the other hand, I am curious to see the ladies swoon seeing me in frills. Maybe I will get more of the "What's worn" comments.

    You MAY be able to get a cravat (or stock) like that from a riding shop... if that fails GOOGLE "Brigade of the American Revolution" and check out the people who supply their uniforming.

    Take it from an old beat up geezer--the ladies love the lace, and there's nothing at all unmasculine about it! My outfit is mucj like Hamishe's only it's the full, double breasted Montrose, and I wear a cotton, banded collar shirt under the jacket. Keeps me from sweating down the jacket and keeps the lace away from my skin.
